What makes UrbanChain less volatile than wholesale energy?
Because we connect you directly to energy users who've agreed to pay a certain price over a longer period. This means prices don't rise and fall in the same way as the wholesale market where renewable prices are pegged against fossil fuel prices.
How does it work?
We bring together generators with consumers whose volume and financial requirements align with yours. We'll take things into account like where you're both based, any agreements to create private energy networks, and demand and supply levels at the time. We're constantly balancing things out, and we report the details every 30 minutes.
What sort of generators can use UrbanChain?
If you're an organisation that generates renewable electricity, we'd love to hear from you. We can help with all sorts of renewables, including wind, solar, hydro, biomass and biogas. We're also gathering alternative resources like batteries and EVs.
What's a local market?
It's a way of sharing the energy you generate. We create a virtual energy market that lets you: share energy with your organisation's other sites, sell to businesses and organisations you've partnered with, supply organisations in your area, sell excess generation to our wider pool of users, and bring your supply chain in to reduce your overall carbon footprint. It doesn't need any infrastructure upgrades, and we can do the setup for you.
How does local energy work?
