UrbanChain, the UK’s fastest-growing CleanTech company, announced plans to achieve full commercial scale in the United States by 2028, with a pilot project launching next year.
Co-founder Dr. Mo Hajhashem is participating in the Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme in New York, where UrbanChain was selected as one of eight UK-based ClimateTech companies. The six-month accelerator provides mentorship and connections to investors, customers, and partners to facilitate US market entry.
The company operates by directly connecting renewable generators with consumers, enabling 24/7 traceable private energy markets insulated from wholesale price volatility. Its customer base spans industrial and commercial entities, office buildings, data centres, local authorities, housing associations, EV charging points, and hospitals.
UrbanChain has raised approximately £20 million in equity and debt funding from sources including Eurazeo, Innovate UK, and the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. The company ranked third in both The Sunday Times Tech 100 and the Deloitte UK Technology Fast 50.
CEO Dr. Somayeh Taheri stated:
“The US expansion represents an enormous opportunity to internationalise our operating system at scale, tackling inefficiencies in one of the most complex energy systems in the world.”
Dr. Hajhashem emphasised that the recognition validates their model and their mission to “make clean energy accessible at scale.”
